According to a report by The Verge’s Alex Heath, Meta (previously Facebook) is collaborating with Microsoft and OpenAI to create an AI coding assistant for its engineers. Meta’s CTO, Andrew Bosworth, informed employees of the plan, mentioning that the cost of constructing an AI coding assistant is high, at around seven cents per query. Bosworth added that Microsoft and OpenAI are being considered due to their natural business integration with Meta.
Recent reports indicate that OpenAI has raised $300 million from venture capitalists at a valuation of $27-29 billion. Several venture capital firms, including Tiger Global, Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Thrive, and K2 Global, have reportedly acquired new shares in OpenAI, as revealed by documents seen by TechCrunch. Microsoft has also invested $10 billion in OpenAI, the organization behind the successful AI chatbot, ChatGPT.
